Architectural Design 4A
Introduces issues associated with architecture and urbanisation and specifically living and working environments with high occupation density and hybrid, complex programmes within cities. The course addresses relevant economic, environmental, political, regulatory, socio-cultural and technical contexts. Architectural theories and strategies are developed to respond to conflicting contextual and environmental constraints on design. Through progressive research, discussion and critique, students develop and present theoretical frameworks and project proposals using 2 and 3 dimensional media that integrates architectural design, communication, technical detail, environmental consideration, creativity, construction and theoretical knowledge.
