Specialisations

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics combines theoretical perspectives, experimental studies and practical applications to develop a well-rounded comprehension and experience base for students.

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics is comprised of four courses which can be completed over six months (full-time) or one year (part-time). You are offered flexibility with on campus study options or online, and depending on your career goals you can design your qualification around one of two specialisations:

  • English grammar and structure specialisation
  • TESL/TEFL specialisation (Teaching English as a Second Language / Teaching English as a Foreign Language, respectively)

This flexibility enables you to really take control of your study, constructing it as you need.

You will be provided with the opportunity to undertake practical experience in the classroom and one on one teaching by engaging in up to 200 hours of placement in an appropriate educational setting (eg. schools, TAFE and Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students [ELICOS]).
