The University of Newcastle’s Graduate Certificate in Social Change and Development will provide you with the fundamentals of social change and development. You will complete four courses, one of which is mandatory and three selected from a prescribed list.
The core course, social change and development, will provide you with the key concepts and analytical skills to understand the changes that have taken place in post-colonial societies. You will examine globalisation and economic development in relation to specific social groups as well as gender, ethnicity and social movements.
To support your career goals, you will be able to select three courses in areas including Aboriginal foundation studies, community development, business and natural environment, and impact assessment and climate change policy, just to name a few. If you are considering continuing your education to Master’s level, it may be appropriate to select courses that can be transferred to a specialisation.
