The Master of Early Childhood Education has been structured to offer you two possible study pathways depending on your situation and career objectives. You will have the opportunity to define your own studies and follow your interest by the courses you select from the prescribed list.
In conjunction with these elective courses, you will study two core courses. These will prepare you with an overview of current research on diverse early childhood issues and advance your knowledge as a critical and professional teacher and leader in early childhood education to a superior level.
You will critically examine the current national and international policy frameworks, professional and leadership issues, and critically appraise pedagogical, curriculum, literacy, special education and social justice approaches to establish a strong philosophical and theoretical foundation. This foundation will ensure you possess a broader contextual frame of reference when educating young children. In a course designed to implement your own research project, you can apply your choice of theoretical and methodological frame to your own practice or the examination of curriculum or policy documents.
The program has a mix of theoretical, practical and professional components to prepare you to become a well-rounded graduate, possessing the knowledge and skills to become a strong and ethical leader in your field.

After successfully completing the Master of Early Childhood Education, you will be qualified to become a leader in your field. This advanced qualification will give you the added advantage of superior knowledge and professional skills to support your existing experience in the field of early childhood education. As a result you will be qualified to take on more senior positions.
This qualification also means you are able to work in early childhood centres, pre-schools, kindergartens and infants schools in more senior roles such as a director, professional developer or assessor.
