This program information is only available to students continuing in the Environmental Studies program. Postgraduate coursework in Environmental Studies is undertaken in an integrated program comprising Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters programs.
The overall focus of the program is to foster a multi-disciplinary understanding of the complexities associated with environmental problems. To this end, all students must take core courses to obtain a basic understanding of environmental legislation and planning, sustainability principles, environmental management, environmental impact assessment, and technology and human values. Through these and other supporting courses students are introduced to a range of environmentally-orientated decision-making and management approaches. Aspects of conflict resolution are also included.
The broad-based environmental approach is designed to complement the undergraduate degree specialisation and to provide a better understanding of the ways various speciality disciplines may be integrated into the process of environmental understanding. Applications are accepted from diverse backgrounds including science, engineering, forestry, economics, english, history and education.
