Architecture Studio 7

30 Units

This course requires students to apply their knowledge and skills related to architecture and urbanisation, specifically the living and working environments associated with high density occupation and hybrid, complex programs within cities. The course addresses relevant economic, environmental, political, regulatory, socio-cultural and technical contexts. The architectural proposition is theoretically and strategically developed in response to the urban context and situation of the city. Through developed research, discussion and critique, students present their architectural propositions using diverse media that integrates architectural design, communication, environmental consideration, creativity, construction detail, technology and services.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Prepare an architectural conceptual proposal for a complex, high density living and working environment within a city
  2. Develop and maintain a theoretical framework for the architectural proposal
  3. Present architectural ideas and concepts in written, verbal and visual forms
  4. Demonstrate creativity and originality within the architectural proposition
  5. Demonstrate the application of construction technology and services and architectural details within an architectural proposal
Content
  • History and precedent of urban building complexes and associated social, cultural and occupation density issues
  • Key architectural strategies in housing
  • Cconsideration of structure, construction technology and services within a technical and detail design associated with dense forms of living and working
Replacing Course(s) This course replaces the following course(s): ARBE6220. Students who have successfully completed ARBE6220 are not eligible to enrol in ARBE6231.
