The program is an initiative of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle, and has been developed in response to an identified demand for a postgraduate qualification in Property.
Why study with us?
The Master of Property provides a flexible and relevant learning experience that meets the current and anticipated future needs of students, employers, the property industry and the wider community. The program is aimed at those already working in the property industry, or those working in related sectors who aspire to move into this field. Students entering the program come from a diverse range of backgrounds and use the knowledge and skills gained in this postgraduate qualification to enhance their career development in a chosen field. The program is designed to equip students with a wide range of practical skills and specialist knowledge for different property-based careers.
The study components serve to facilitate both students’ professional and personal growth. Graduates will be equipped with a broad knowledge and understanding of property as an asset class within national and international markets and with the skills necessary to research, analyse and advise on decisions relating to the acquisition, administration, management, disposal, development and financing of property assets.
At the University of Newcastle, we recognize that many of our students are in highly demanding employment. Flexible study options are therefore of vital importance. In response we have tailored this program for delivery on a part-time basis in online distance learning mode.
Study a Language
All domestic students can now enrol in an undergraduate Diploma in Languages alongside their main degree program. This diploma will enhance proficiency in another language or languages, and will increase international career opportunities. Subject to course availability, this additional program will generally add an extra year to studies, and students will graduate with a Diploma in Languages as well as their other degree. Please note that all language courses are held on campus (face to face) at Callaghan.
International students cannot enrol concurrently in the Diploma in Languages alongside their primary program unless they can complete both programs within the duration of their primary program CoE. For more information please contact the ESOS Student Compliance Unit ESOS@newcastle.edu.au.

Applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University's English proficiency requirement. The Master of Property has been accredited for Associate Membership with the Australian Property Institute (API) and endorsed for Certified Property Practitioner (CPP). The Australian Property Institute is Australia’s peak body for property professionals. The Institute’s primary role is to set and maintain the highest standards of professional practice, education, ethics and professional conduct for its members and the broader property profession. Members are highly regarded and respected throughout Australia for their professionalism, knowledge and expertise, and the highest standards of quality and performance. Please Note: The API considers postgraduate study as a potential upgrade, which, in conjunction with previous academic qualifications may provide additional qualifications required to meet the API’s academic requirements. This program’s accreditation does not on its own, meet entry requirements for Associate Membership with or without Certification.Please contact the API for further information.

Requirements and Structure
The Master of Property is an 80 units program requiring the completion of eight courses.
As programs are regularly reviewed and updated, some students may experience changes to their program of study during the course of their enrolment, which may require transition arrangements. Students affected by changes to their program are advised to review any documentation contained in the “Additional Information” section (located towards the top of this page), in the first instance.
